Paletti: New Momentum for Families and Childcare

Families have different needs when it comes to balancing work, childcare and everyday life. With Paletti, the Albert Koechlin Stiftung is committed to supporting work-life balance across Central Switzerland. The initiative covers the areas of work, development & innovation, and family.

For Awina, the childcare area is especially interesting. Here, the focus is on developing existing offerings further and testing new solutions. Currently, a needs and innovation analysis is examining what offerings families and children in the Sursee-Mittelland region actually need.

What is Paletti?

Paletti is an initiative of the Albert Koechlin Stiftung (AKS). In the area of work, businesses are supported in creating structures that make work-life balance easier. Development & innovation focuses on new and improved childcare offerings. The family area is dedicated to supporting families.

Paletti doesn't see work-life balance as a rigid model. The needs of children, parents and employers can differ and change depending on each life situation.

Developing new ideas for childcare

In the area of development & innovation, Paletti supports new and improved childcare offerings up to the end of compulsory schooling.

They're looking for projects based on concrete needs. New solutions are meant to be developed, tested and anchored for the long term. The funding programme is aimed at organisations, professionals and committed individuals from Central Switzerland.

What do families and children in the region need?

Daycare visit

Paletti is currently exploring this very question in the Sursee-Mittelland region. The Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts - School of Social Work is carrying out a needs and innovation analysis there.

The analysis looks at ways to further develop existing offerings such as daycares and lunch tables. New approaches could also emerge from this. Paletti mentions, for example, neighbourhood support or offerings for children and families with special support needs.

The results will be presented on 4 November 2026 at an event in Sursee. Alongside the results, there will also be room for exchange and new ideas.

Family offerings are also part of the Paletti project

Family playing together

At the same time, there's a call for proposals for new family offerings as part of Paletti. Low-threshold offerings that support families in everyday life are being funded.

They're looking for projects that support families in practical ways, strengthen their parenting skills and help them balance family and work. The call is aimed at professionals, key contacts and organisations.

With its focus on family, childcare and work, the Paletti project takes a broad look at the different areas of life that matter for work-life balance.

Awina has already told daycares about this funding opportunity

Back in July, we already told our daycare community about the funding opportunities offered by the Paletti project. That's because many daycares come up with ideas that could improve everyday childcare - but sometimes the funds needed to put them into practice are missing.

With the current calls for proposals, Paletti gives organisations and professionals from Central Switzerland the chance to submit such projects. For projects in the development & innovation area, the application deadline is 15 October 2026.

What's next for Paletti?

Right now, the focus is on the ongoing calls for proposals and the needs and innovation analysis in Sursee-Mittelland. The presentation in November will show which needs have been identified and what ideas might emerge from them.

You can find more information on the programmes and current calls for proposals directly from the Paletti project.

At Awina, as a parent, you'll also find support for your daycare search and can compare different offerings using our daycare comparison. As a daycare, you can increase your visibility with parents and professionals with a daycare profile, helping you attract more enquiries and applications.
